IâD SOBERED UP A BIT by the time we returned to the fairgrounds, but I almost tripped hopping out of the truck. I was hopeful I would be able to stave off a hangover, but nothing was certain given the potency of Tillieâs wine.
Kade exited the door to our trailer when he heard us, worry etched across his face. His grimace dissolved into a smile when he saw me. âI take it things went okay.â
I instinctively threw my arms around his neck as Luke tumbled from the bed of the truck and immediately started throwing up. âWe mightâve drunk some wine,â I admitted.
Kade ran his hands over my back as he chuckled. âOther than that, I donât see any bruises. No magical fights or anything?â
I shook my head and swayed. âNope. Just homemade wine. Oh, and Nellie danced naked with the witches.â
Kade stiffened. âThere was actual naked dancing?â
âOnly with the older witches, so donât let your mind run away with you. Landon and Bay did not get naked. Although ⦠theyâre probably naked now.â
âOh, you think?â Raven drank as much as I did, but she seemed steadier on her feet. âThose two were about to mount each other in the middle of the clearing. Theyâre definitely naked.â
âDefinitely,â Luke echoed, rubbing the sides of his mouth. âI wish Landon wouldâve danced naked.â
âMe, too,â Melissa said as she handed Luke his keys. âIâm going to bed to dream about it.â
Luke beamed at her. âMe, too.â
I merely shook my head. âHow did your night go?â
Kade took the bulk of my weight and dragged me toward the steps. âWeâll talk about it in the morning.â
I searched his face for a hint of discontent, but he looked fine. âYouâre okay, right?â
He nodded. âYup. Youâre the one who needs looking after tonight.â
âIâm fine.â
âYouâre going to have a hangover unless we get some aspirin and water into you.â
âIâm fine,â I repeated. âI can hold my liquor.â
âYouâre still drinking a bottle of water and taking aspirin.â
âOkay.â I wasnât in the mood to argue, especially since my head was on the verge of spinning. âHave I told you lately that I love you?â
âYes.â He kissed my forehead when we reached the top of the stairs. âItâs always nice to hear.â
âYeah. You know what?â
âHmm.â He was distracted as he opened the door.
âI think I might be drunk.â
He laughed as he pulled me inside. âI think you might be, too.â
